The Sokol History Project

The project includes three history exhibits and articles:

Czechs in Wisconsin,
Slovaks in Wisconsin
and

by Gerald Novotny and Stepanka Korytova-Magstadt, PhD.

Our history exhibit on Czechs, Slovaks and Sokol in Wisconsin that debuted at the Milwaukee Slet in 2013 has been touring the state traveling over 1,000 miles and making multiple appearances.

It was at the August 2013 Czech and Kolache Fest in Kewaunee where it survived a wind storm that tore the roof off the Agricultural Heritage & Resources center building.

The exhibit was displayed at the Norway House during when Czech historian Jaroslava Paulusova spoke in October 2013.

It was featured at the 2013 Holiday Folk Fair in November.

It was used again at our Jaternice Dinner in February 2014.

The exhibit then travelled to Poland, WI in March 2014 for the Wisconsin Czechs Maso Pust event.

In May 2014 it made the trip back to Kewaunee for a two week engagement at the Kewaunee County Historical Society.

Then it travelled to Hillsboro for the Cesky Den festival and the following weekend appeared at the Phillips Czech–Slovak Festival.

The Slovak panels were at the Wisconsin Slovak Historical Society on Sunday August 3rd, 2014.
